AutoGate - intelligent rodent bait station

Rats are an every present concern for businesses, especially when rodents are foraging on the periphery or looking to find ways to enter a premise in search of food. Rats can be very persistent even gnawing through metal to get in, and if they do gain access into your premises they can spread diseases, cause damage and contaminate food and other products. For food processing, food retail and hospitality businesses in particular a rat infestation can have major health and safety implications as well as a negative impact on your reputation.

AutoGate - future of external rat control

Rentokil’s AutoGate uses patented technology to intelligently control access to rodenticide for external rat baiting. It is a unique and innovative solution to permanent external rat baiting that ensures legal compliance (under the Biocidal Product Regulations) whilst delivering immediate, targeted protection against rat infestations before they find entry to your premises.

AutoGate is a ‘smart’ gate mechanism that secures the rodenticide from being accessed by non-target species. AutoGate will only be activated (to open and expose the rodenticide) when a rat has been detected. There are two infrared sensors on the unit which continuously pulsate light. Once the sensors are triggered 3 times by rat activity, the gate opens to allow the rat access to the rodenticide within the bait station. The gate will then close after a set period of time to prohibit access to non-target species. If the sensors detect further rat activity the gate will re-open to allow the rat access to feed again for a limited period.

  • Rat infestations controlled swiftly - as AutoGate enables immediate rodenticide treatment
  • Targeted baiting programme - with reduced impact on the environment
  • Provides information on rat activity - driving informed decision making and aiding future control
  • Safer use of pesticides - AutoGate allows highly targeted use of rodenticide in high risk areas, where non-target species may be present

External rodent baiting

Autogate is a rat monitoring system delivering toxic rodenticide bait, ‘on demand’ when and where it is needed. Use of Rentokil rodenticide anticoagulant formulations with Autogate technology complies with the specific conditions of use as set down for Rentokil rodenticide formulations under the Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) 528/2012), while enabling a rapid response to rodent activity.

In addition to full compliance under the Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) 528/2012), use of Autogate also meets the Industry best practice standards as described in the CRRU (Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use) Irish Code of Best Practice. When deploying rodenticides externally to controls rats, Autogate greatly reduces the associated environmental impact when compared to conventional baiting methods.

The regulation is to help reduce the risk of non-target species poisoning (for example voles or field mice). This can lead to secondary poisoning of protected birds (such as barn owls, kestrels and falcons) if they consume these mammals as carrion. However, this tight restriction on external baiting may allow rat populations an opportunity to rise significantly before rodenticide can be made available to provide effective control

AutoGate offers a complete external rodent control solution, allowing strategic baiting around the perimeter of your premises to control rat infestations swiftly.  By also providing information on the frequency of rat activity AutoGate aids informed decision making on future pest control.
