At The National Ploughing Championships 2015

If you were at last year’s National Ploughing Championships you may have come accross our hugely popular “Pop-Up Pestaurant”.

Rentokil’s Pestaurant is designed to create a buzz and spread the word on the benefits of eating insects while our experts also offer you free pest control advice on the spot!

Our Global network of Rentokil branches have put their heads together and even put a Pestaurant Cook Book together, with recipies including chocolate chirp cookies to mealworm burgers, we’ve tried it all!

But did you realise that as well as being a bit of fun, introducing edible bugs to your diet is actually quite good for you?

Roughly 1,900 species of insects are reportedly suitable food for humans and the United Nations are actively promoting we look at insects as a viable food source for the human race in the future.

Insects are not only a healthy food option, they are also very good for the environment!

Farmers –  Pay Attention!

It takes 10kg of food to produce 1kg of cow, only half of which can actually be eaten. By contrast, 10kg of feed will produce up to 9kg of insects, of which over 95% can be eaten.

The impact on your business? In short, it means, it costs far less to use insects as feed and insects also produce less greenhouse gases than the other protein types!

Competition Time

We are looking for our Pestaurant patrons to share their most creative insect selfies from the event and we have a Android Tablet to give away for the best entry!
