Rentokil Initial, a leading provider of pest control and commercial hygiene services, has been presented with a commemorative medal for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic by the Sisters of Mercy at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Rentokil Initial was recognised for its delivery of vital services to the hospital, in accordance with Government guidelines, to ensure that the ongoing safety and comfort of frontline healthcare staff and patients was maintained. As part of the services provided by the company, Rentokil Initial’s expert technicians carry out monthly inspections across the hospital campus to monitor and prevent any pest-related incidents.

Rentokil Initial had been presented a metal during the Hospital’s annual Mission Awareness Week. The medal bears an image of the Mater Hospital, encircled by the words ‘Covid-19 pandemic 2020’ and ‘Caring, Compassion, Commitment, Teamwork’.

Included with the medal was a letter from the Director of Mission at the Hospital for Rentokil technician Paul Grant, as well as a letter from President Michael D Higgins thanking all for their services during this health crisis.

Michael O’Mahoney, Managing Director at Rentokil Initial Ireland said “Rentokil Initial would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Mater Hospital for this recognition, which is a point of great pride and honour for all staff members. It stands as a testament to our great team of technicians, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in recent months. During the pandemic, we have strived to provide essential services to all of our customers in a safe and socially distant manner, while maintaining high standards in the quality of our work. ”

Nuala King, Director of Mission at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital said “We would like to thank Rentokil Initial for the work it has continued to provide to the Mater Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic. It has been a difficult period for everyone, but through their work, they have helped to ensure the ongoing safety and comfort of our healthcare staff and patients.”
