Rentokil invests to lead Irish pest control into the digital age

09 October, 2009

Naas, Ireland - Rentokil Pest Control Ireland, Ireland’s leading pest control services provider, has announced that it intends to offer free internet-based reporting to all its Irish customers past, present and future with immediate effect. Traditionally pest control activities are kept track of via written reports, but Rentokil’s entry level PestNetOnline system allows customers to access all their information via an internet portal.

The move represents a significant investment by Rentokil Ireland as each client’s premises needs to be set up on-site as well as in the back offices, and will be offered at no cost to customers. Phill Wood, the Area Managing Director responsible for Rentokil Ireland, is clear that Ireland continues to offer great opportunities. “We have invested in our Irish business consistently over the past as we see it as a long term commitment. Despite the down turn in the economy, we have continued to invest, especially in improving our technology and the team’s capabilities. Today’s announcement is another sign of our commitment to Ireland, and reflects our confidence in the future as well as our desire to play our part in ensuring that Irish business is in shape to benefit from the recovery when it comes. By providing all Rentokil Ireland's customers with a free upgrade to our entry level PestNetOnline system we will again be leading the pest control market and providing great value for businesses that chose us as their pest control service supplier.”

PestNetOnline works by ensuring that each building has a series of bar-coded monitoring points, which are scanned each time a Rentokil technician visits. At the same time, the technician records details of any evidence of pest activity, recommendations and actions taken. The results are then sent via radio signal to a central processing centre and loaded onto the customer’s account immediately. Within 5 minutes of a Rentokil visit customers can access their details online and see exactly what has been happening on their sites. PestNetOnline can also report across a series of sites so that business managers do not have to physically visit each one to review written reports, thus saving time and effort.

“We already have well in excess of 10% of our customer base using the system” continues Phill Wood, “mainly from businesses where there are very strict reporting requirements, such as food manufacturers. We believe that all our customers could benefit from having access, especially as over 50% of the population now have access to the internet in Ireland. The great thing about PestNetOnline is that it can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection.”
